MEET OUR YOUTH PASTORS
Ricky & Jess Tandy
Ricky and Jess are the youth pastors of Revival youth. Ricky is a Georgia native and Jess is from here in Tennessee. Ricky attended USF in pursuit of a wellness degree and currently works at John Overton high school as a football coach. Jess is also at John Overton assisting in the EE department. Their hearts are geared toward the next gen as they have a desire to help students find their calling and purpose through God’s plan. They believe this generation will be the ones who help the world fix their eyes on Jesus as true and genuine students walking in who God calls them to be!
Fun Facts & Favorites
- When did you say yes to Jesus? (Ricky) I came to know Jesus at a young age, around 8-10 years old. Always put my faith in Him, knew he had a purpose for my life and that I needed to just be obedient. (Jess) I said yes to Jesus when I was 11 years old. I was instantly full with the spirit and haven’t looked back since!
- Favorite Sports Teams: (Ricky) I love all the Georgia sports teams, back to back national champs UGA - Go Dawgs, Braves, Falcons and Hawks. (Jess) V-O-L-S, V-O-L-S, GO VOLS GO!
- Favorite Music/Band/Artist: (Ricky) I like Thomas Rhett, Luke Combs, Eric Church, Josiah Queen, Phil Wickham and Maverick city. (Jess) To choose a favorite is to go back in time. I still listen to 90s country, Frank Sinatra, and Brittney spears. However, Josiah Queen has become one of my favorites.
- Favorite Podcast: (Ricky) Family Goals with pastor J and David Pollack. Highly recommend this podcast. It is influential and it has a little bit of humor. Talks Bible and family. (Jess) If you haven’t listened to Family Goals with Pastor Jay and David Pollack, I highly recommend it. It’s encouraging and helps me as a parent focus on Godly ways for my kids in a world that tries to deter them from Godly standards.
- Favorite Early 2000’s Artist: (Ricky) Linkin Park and (Jess) A Day to Remember.
- Favorite Coffee Order: (Ricky) Not a huge coffee drinker, but I like white chocolate & Vanilla. (Jess) MUSHROOM COFFEE HAS STOLEN MY HEART! Don’t knock it till you try it! With just a hint of vanilla creamer, it’s soooo good!
- Favorite Scripture: (Ricky) Philippians 4:13 I think of this scripture daily because through him he gives me strength to do all things. speaking in front of a crowd that I thought I would never be able to do. in a difficult situation that I just can’t seem to get out of, he gives me strength to do so. new opportunities arise all the time and I have a fearful thought that I will fail. This Scripture just reminds me that he’s always and always will be with us. (Jess) Esphesians 2:10 is a great reminder to me. It reminds me that no matter what I feel or how badly I think things are going, that I was chosen for good things. God tells us this as a reminder that we are loved and called!
- Favorite Movie: (Ricky) I am a sports guy and I love sports movies but Jerry McGuire is an underrated movie but it’s a great one. But I am a big Marvel/super hero guy as well and love spider-Man and all the avengers movies. (Jess) Sweet Home Alabama has to be hands down one of the best comfort movies for me!
